Who We Are

Education Reform Now, is a 501(c)(3) think tank focused on public education system improvement through equity based reforms that improve outcomes for those furthest from opportunity.

Reimagines a public education system that is competitive, world class and equitably delivered to each student. We agitate for dismantling systemic barriers to college and career readiness.

We are education change agents who work at the federal and state level to make the system fairer for those furthest from opportunity.  We thrive on the principle that every student regardless of age, race, gender identity, or citizenship status deserves access to a quality public education that prepares them to reach their limitless potential.

"We have an obligation and a responsibility to be investing in our students and our schools.  We must make sure that people who have the grades, the desire and the will, but not the money, can still get the best education possible." - President Barack Obama

How We Do It

I'M AN ORIGINAL CATCHPHRASE

To close opportunity and achievement gaps, education champions must prioritize:

  • Resource Equity  - More funding targeted to those furthest from opportunity.

  • Teacher Quality - Ensure that teachers have skills they need to help kids succeed.

  • Accountability - To see what is working and direct resources to struggling schools.

  • Public School Choice - Access to high quality public school options for families.

  • Higher Ed Affordability - Post secondary readiness and access for every student.

  • Transparency - Following the policy, money, resources and outcomes.

We research what is and isn't working in public education across the country, and use evidence on the best and most effective ideas from the people who are closest to the communities we seek to serve. Our research and policy proposals form the basis of our outreach and advocacy priorities.

We educate policymakers in state legislatures, on school boards and in congress on the issues and work with them to prioritize closing opportunity gaps for the historically and systemically underserved.

We sustain a national and statewide education coalition and network of community based organizations, advocacy partners, elected officials, and state agency partners who believe that creating a world class K-12 public education system is a paramount duty of Washington State. We recognize rising stars, transformational leadership and the growth of elected education champions at our national annual convening, Camp Philos.
